Getting back on the horse

On Sunday the 15th of April I headed out to Whatipu at dawn to do a run around the course for the Wild Turkey 21k off road half marathon (on next weekend).

The course starts at the carpark in Whatipu, and goes up Gibbons and Muir Tracks to Parahaha Valley, then a steep uphill climb up Buck Taylor and then the Odlins Timber track to the Karamatura Forks (elevation around 400m), before heading back down Don McLean to Omanawanui (my favourite place) and back down to Whatipu.  It's a very challenging course, with over 1000m of elevation gain.

Here are some photos I took during the run.
